On VAZ vehicles, a working brake system with hydraulic drive and diagonal separation of circuits is used (pic. 77), which greatly improves driving safety. One circuit provides the brake mechanisms of the right front and left rear wheels, the other - the left front and right rear. If one of the circuits fails, the second circuit is used as a spare brake system, which ensures that the car stops with sufficient efficiency. The hydraulic drive includes a vacuum booster 9 and a double-circuit regulator 23 of the pressure of the rear wheel brakes.
Pic. 77. Scheme of the brake system drive:
1 - brake disc; 2 - caliper assembly with cylinder and guide pads; 3 - front brake hose; 4 - circuit pipeline «left front - right rear brakes»; 5 - main cylinder; 6 - circuit pipeline «right front - left rear brakes»; 7 - protective ring of the hose; 8 - tank of the main cylinder; 9 - vacuum amplifier; 10 - button of the parking brake drive lever 11 - parking brake drive lever; 12 - lever latch rod; 13 - lever latch; 14 - toothed latch sector; 15 - parking brake lever bracket; 16 - rear parking brake cable; 17 - rear wheel brake shield; 18 - pressure regulator mounting bracket; 19 - elastic lever drive pressure regulator; 20 - rear brake wheel cylinder 21 - rear brake pads; 22 - rear brake hose; 23 - rear wheel pressure regulator; 24 - pressure regulator drive lever; 25 - bracket for fastening cases and pipelines; 26 - cable equalizer; 27 - thrust of the parking brake; 28 - protective cover; 29 - brake pedal.
To exclude vibration and deformation of the hydraulic drive pipelines, they are attached to the floor and body panels with brackets 25, as well as brackets welded to the body. The wheel cylinders of the brake mechanisms of the front and rear wheels are connected to pipelines using elastic hoses 3 and 22. Protective rubber rings 7 are put on the front brake hoses, which have an annular groove on the outer surface. The brackets of the front suspension struts go into these grooves. As a result, during suspension strokes, the hoses do not bend at sharp angles and do not rub against bodywork and suspension parts.
