VAZ vehicles use a hydraulically driven service brake system with diagonally split circuits (figure 77), which significantly increases the safety of driving the car. One circuit ensures the operation of the brake mechanisms of the right front and left rear wheels, the other - the left front and right rear. If one of the circuits fails, the second circuit is used as a backup brake system, ensuring that the car stops with sufficient efficiency. The hydraulic drive includes a vacuum booster 9 and a dual-circuit regulator 23 of the rear wheel brake pressure.
Figure 77. Brake system drive diagram:
1 - brake disc; 2 - caliper assembly with cylinder and pad guide; 3 - front brake hose; 4 - pipeline of the circuit "left front - right rear brakes"; 5 - master cylinder; 6 - pipeline of the circuit "right front - left rear brakes"; 7 - hose protective ring; 8 - master cylinder reservoir; 9 - vacuum booster; 10 - Parking brake lever button 11 - Parking brake lever; 12 - Latch rod; 13 - Lever latch; 14 - toothed sector of the latch; 15 - parking brake lever bracket; 16 - rear parking brake cable; 17 - rear wheel brake shield; 18 - pressure regulator mounting bracket; 19 - elastic lever of pressure regulator drive; 20 - rear brake wheel cylinder 21 - rear brake pads; 22 - rear brake hose; 23 - rear wheel pressure regulator; 24 - pressure regulator drive lever; 25 - bracket for fastening pipelines; 26 - cable equalizer; 27 - parking brake rod; 28 - protective cover; 29 - brake pedal.
In order to eliminate vibration and deformation of the hydraulic drive pipelines, they are fastened to the floor and body panels with clamps 25, as well as brackets welded to the body. The wheel cylinders of the front and rear wheel brake mechanisms are connected to the pipelines using elastic hoses 3 and 22. Protective rubber rings 7 with an annular groove on the outer surface are put on the front brake hoses. The brackets of the front suspension struts enter these grooves. As a result, when the suspension moves, the hoses do not bend at sharp angles and do not rub against the body and suspension parts.
