The structure and operation of the braking system (VAZ-2109)

            0

According to its purpose and functions, the vehicle braking system is divided into service, spare, parking and emergency. The service braking system reduces the vehicle's speed and stops it with the required efficiency, the spare serves to stop the vehicle with the required efficiency when the service braking system fails, and the parking serves to hold the vehicle in place. The latter is also used as an emergency braking system when the service braking system fails.

VAZ vehicles use a hydraulically driven service brake system with diagonally split circuits (figure 77), which significantly increases the safety of driving the car. One circuit ensures the operation of the brake mechanisms of the right front and left rear wheels, the other - the left front and right rear. If one of the circuits fails, the second circuit is used as a backup brake system, ensuring that the car stops with sufficient efficiency. The hydraulic drive includes a vacuum booster 9 and a dual-circuit regulator 23 of the rear wheel brake pressure.

In order to eliminate vibration and deformation of the hydraulic drive pipelines, they are fastened to the floor and body panels with clamps 25, as well as brackets welded to the body. The wheel cylinders of the front and rear wheel brake mechanisms are connected to the pipelines using elastic hoses 3 and 22. Protective rubber rings 7 with an annular groove on the outer surface are put on the front brake hoses. The brackets of the front suspension struts enter these grooves. As a result, when the suspension moves, the hoses do not bend at sharp angles and do not rub against the body and suspension parts.
