1. Loosen the gear shift lever handle.
2. Untie the cord at the front of the cover.
3. Remove the cover from the lever.
4. Using a second key to prevent the lever axle from turning, unscrew the axle mounting nut.
5. Please note: there is a spring washer installed under the nut.
6. Remove the lever axle.
7. Remove the two plastic bushings.
8. Replace worn or broken bushings. Please note: plastic bushings are split, which is not a defect.
9. Install all parts in the reverse order of removal, after lubricating the plastic axle bushings with consistent grease.
