Press the oil seal and outer ring of the differential bearing out of the gearbox housing (see subsection 11.1.6., operations 17 and 18).
The differential bearing preload should be (0,25±0,1) mm. Preload is provided by selection (by thickness) adjusting ring from those supplied as spare parts. The adjusting ring is installed in the socket of the gearbox housing under the outer ring of the differential bearing.
The thickness of the adjusting ring T (mm) differential bearings are determined by the formula:
T = S + C + Y,
where S is the measured axial displacement of the differential, mm;
C - differential bearing preload (0.25±0.1mm);
Y - thickness of the adjusting ring (1.25mm).
For example, with an axial clearance of 0.95 mm, the thickness of the adjusting ring should be T = 0.95 + 0.25 + 1.25 = 2.45 mm.
1. Insert a 1.25mm set ring into the gearbox housing housing under the differential bearing.
2. Press the differential bearing outer race into the gearbox housing seat using a suitable drift (for details see subsection 11.1.6., operations 20 and 21). Also press the bearing ring into the clutch housing if it was pressed out.
3. Install the differential into the transmission housing, then the transmission housing onto the clutch housing.
4. Torque tighten three crankcase mounting bolts equidistant from each other. Rotate the differential a few turns to self-align the bearings.
5. Install a base plate of the correct diameter on the end of the differential flange on the clutch housing side.
6. Attach the indicator to the stand. Mount the indicator leg on the base plate with a preload of 1 mm.
7. By applying force from below to the differential housing (with a suitable tube), move the differential up as far as it will go. In this case, the differential cannot be rotated around the axis. Measure the axial movement of the differential by reading the indicator.
8. Calculate the required thickness T of the differential bearing shim using the formula. Select an adjusting ring with a thickness equal to T±0.1 mm from those supplied as spare parts. Install the selected adjusting ring into the housing of the gearbox housing and press in the outer race of the differential bearing.
