Removal and installation the cardan transmission (VAZ-2101)

To remove the cardan transmission, place the car on an inspection pit (lift) and install wheel chocks. Release the handbrake, set the gearshift lever to neutral, hang up both or one wheel and remove the safety bracket 24 (see fig. 76).

Install clamp A.70025 on an elastic coupling (see fig. 67) and, turning the shaft, unscrew the nuts of the flange mounting bolts; remove the bolts and then the clamp. Loosen the nuts of the bolts securing the rear propeller shaft to the flange of the main gear pinion. Disconnect the release spring of the handbrake cable equalizer. Loosen the nuts securing the intermediate support crossmember to the body floor and remove the propeller shaft toward the front of the vehicle.

Installing the cardan transmission on the vehicle is in reverse order.
