Disconnect the suspension pipes and mufflers at the rear of the car, and then the muffler pipe from the exhaust pipe. Disconnect the clamp securing the pipe to the gearbox. Using a swivel wrench 02.7812.9500, unscrew the nuts securing the exhaust pipe of the mufflers to the exhaust manifold and remove the pipe down. Unscrew the lower bolts of the clutch housing cover and disconnect the ground wire from the clutch housing and the wires from the reversing light switch.
Unhook the release spring 23 (see fig. 60) from the clutch release fork and remove the cotter pin from the pusher 18. Disconnect the working cylinder 22 from the clutch housing. In this case, the cylinder 22, connected to the pipeline going to the master cylinder of the clutch release actuator, remains on the vehicle, which eliminates the loss of brake fluid and the need to pump the hydraulic clutch release actuator.
Remove safety bracket 24 (see fig. 76) cardan shaft, then disconnect the flexible speedometer shaft from the speedometer drive gearbox.
Put on an elastic coupling 4 (pic. 67) collar A.70025 (5) and tighten it up. This facilitates the removal and installation of the flexible coupling. Unscrew the nuts 2 and, turning the cardan shaft 5, remove the bolts securing the elastic coupling 3 to the flange of the output shaft of the gearbox. Release and move aside the front propeller shaft with a clutch.
Unscrew the bolts securing the starter to the clutch housing with a socket wrench 02.7812.9500 and remove it. Disconnect the rear engine mount from the cross member 1 and remove the cross member while supporting the gearbox from below. A stand is placed under the gearbox housing and the A.55035 swivel key unscrews the clutch housing mounting bolts, then remove the gearbox together with the clutch housing, shifting it back to remove the drive shaft from the front bearing and from the hub of the driven disk.
When removing and installing, do not rest the end of the drive shaft on the thrust flange of the clutch pressure spring, so as not to deform the clutch connecting plates.
Install the gearbox in the reverse order of removal. Before installation, apply a thin layer of lubricant LSTs-15 (Litol-24) on the splined end of the drive shaft and centered with mandrel A.70081 (see fig. 63) clutch disc.
