After a thorough wash of the cardan transmission, marks are applied (with paint or core) on the parts to be separated in order to connect them in the same position during assembly and to maintain the shaft balancing unchanged. Place the front propeller shaft in a vice and remove the needle bearing retaining rings with round-nose pliers. Then press out the bearing housings from the universal joint forks using clamp 67.7823.9522 or a drift with a hammer. Unscrew the nut securing the universal joint fork to the front shaft and remove the fork using puller A.40005/1/5. Under press 3 and using half rings 4 (Fig. 77), remove intermediate support 1 from front shaft 2 complete with bearing and dust deflector.
To disassemble the intermediate support, remove the retaining ring, then use the A.40005/2/4/11 puller to press the bearing out of the support. Then disassemble the rear shaft using the same techniques.
