Until 1983, a single-winding traction relay was installed on ST-221 starters. For a starter with such a relay, check the current consumption, which should be no more than 23 A.
1. Install between stop ring 51 (see fig. Starter ST-221) and gear spacer 12.8 mm thick and turn on the relay.
2. Check the switch-on voltage of the relay, which should be no more than 9 V at an ambient temperature of 20±5°C. If the voltage is higher, then this indicates a malfunction of the relay or actuator.
