Electro-pneumatic valve control unit — check and replacement (VAZ-2104)

The control unit of the electro-pneumatic valve is installed on the left mudguard in the engine compartment.

To complete the work you will need a multimeter.

Procedure



1. Disconnect the wires from the microswitch terminals.

2. Connect the car tester in the crankshaft speed measurement mode (see "Idle speed - adjustment").

Note: On a vehicle with a model 2107 instrument panel, we monitor the crankshaft speed using the tachometer on the instrument panel.


3. Connect the positive probe of the voltmeter to the gray wire with the red stripe in the block's wiring block, and connect the negative probe to the ground.

Note: If you don't have a voltmeter, you can use a lamp (test tube). In this case, changes in voltage are indicated by changes in the lamp's glow.


4. Start the engine. At idle, the voltmeter should show a voltage of at least 10 V. Smoothly increase the crankshaft speed. For a serviceable unit, at a frequency of 1600 rpm (frequency of switching off the solenoid valve) the voltage should suddenly drop to 0.5-1.5 V. When the speed decreases to 1200 rpm, the voltmeter should show more than 10 V. At the same time, the solenoid valve should open. Otherwise, the unit is faulty.

5. Turn off the ignition. Replace the faulty unit.
