We measure the center-to-center distance between the rod ends, which should be equal to 80 mm.
If necessary, remove one of the tips from the lever by prying it up with a screwdriver.
Using an 8 mm spanner, loosen the lock nut and, by rotating the tip, adjust the length of the rod (in the photo the crankcase gas outlet hose has been removed).
Having tightened the nut and installed the rod in place, we ask the assistant to press the gas pedal all the way. If the throttle valve of the first chamber has not opened completely, the valve lever has an additional stroke.
We remove the tip of the longitudinal rod from the intermediate lever.
After loosening the lock nut, we shorten the length of the rod, put it back in place and check the opening of the damper again.
Then release the pedal and check the position of the throttle valve, which should now be completely closed. If necessary, extend the rod.
Loosen the air damper drive cable (see Replacing the carburetor). In the car interior, press the air damper control handle all the way down.
By pressing the three-arm lever, we fully open the air damper..
…and in this position we tighten the locking screw.
Pulling the control handle, close the air damper. After that, push it down again until it stops. If the damper is fully open, finally tighten the locking screw. If necessary, repeat the adjustment.
