Silencers — removal and installation (VAZ-2108)

When removing the main muffler 7 (figure 20) the car is hung on a lift, the nuts of the rear clamp 4 are unscrewed, the clamp and the sealing ring are removed. The main muffler is removed from the rubber cushions 5 of the muffler hangers.



To remove the additional muffler 6, disconnect the front and rear clamps 4. Remove the sealing rings and remove the muffler from the suspensions.

If it is necessary to remove the inlet pipe 3, remove the front clamp 4, unscrew the nuts securing it to the bracket 1 and to the engine exhaust manifold, remove the inlet pipe and the metal-asbestos sealing gasket 2.

The installation of the mufflers and the exhaust pipe is performed in the reverse order. The nuts for fastening the exhaust pipe to the exhaust manifold and the sealing gasket 2 are used once and must be replaced with new ones after each removal.
