Carburetor — removal and installation (VAZ-2108)

Removal and installation are performed only on a cold engine. Remove the air filter cover and take out the filter element. Unscrew the nuts securing the air filter housing to the carburetor, remove the housing together with the thermostat and, having loosened the clamp, disconnect the corrugated hose.

Disconnect from sector 1 (see figure 15) throttle control cable and return spring (not shown in the picture), and also disconnect the traction rod and the casing of the air damper drive traction from the carburetor. Unscrew the fastening screw and remove the carburetor heating unit.

Disconnect the electrical wires of the electromagnetic shut-off valve 9 and the limit switch of the forced idle economizer from the carburetor.

Unscrew the carburetor mounting nuts, remove it and close the inlet opening of the intake manifold with a plug.

The carburetor is installed in the reverse order. Before installation, make sure that the plane of the connection of the intake manifold with the carburetor is clean. After installation, adjust the carburetor control drive.
