Silent blocks (rubber-metal hinges) we replace it when the hinge in the lever rotates, elasticity is lost, the rubber element of the silent block is chipped or squeezed out of the seat.
To perform repairs to replace the silent blocks in the wishbone of the front suspension, you will need a universal cup puller (see point 15 "Special tools and devices").
Removal
1. Remove the transverse suspension arm from the car (see "Front suspension wishbone - removal and installation").
Silent block of the outer end of the transverse arm of the front suspension (lever joints with longitudinal tension) consists of two separate parts.
To remove the silent block of the outer end of the wishbone:
2. Clamp the front suspension wishbone in a vice and use a thin chisel to bend back the edges of the outer metal ring of one of the silent block halves.
3. Using a more powerful chisel, press out part of the silent block.
4. Press out the second part of the silent block in the same way.
To remove the silent block of the inner end of the front suspension wishbone:
5. With a universal cup puller or a piece of pipe and a bolt with a nut and washers of a suitable diameter (the cylinder head mounting bolt will fit) we press out the silent block (rubber-metal hinge) fastening the lever to the body.
Installation
To install the silent block of the outer end of the lever:
1. Using a vice and a thrust plate, press in the parts of the new silent block.
2. Finally, we seat the silent block parts using hammer blows through a mandrel of a suitable diameter.
To install the inner end of the lever silent block:
3. Place the silent block on the bolt of the device and apply a soap solution to the outer surface of the silent block.
4. By tightening the bolt nut, we press the silent block to the lever.
5. Using a slotted screwdriver, insert the edge of the silent block into the hole in the transverse arm.
6. To make the work easier, you can tighten the rubber bushing of the silent block with a clamp.
We completely press the silent block into the hole of the front suspension wishbone.
