To perform repair work on disassembling and assembling the front suspension strut on a VAZ 2110 car, you will need:
- spring clamps;
- special devices for disassembling the suspension strut (see item 44 "Special tools and devices").
Disassembly
1. Remove the front pillar from the car (see "Front suspension strut (without steering knuckle) - removal and installation").
2. Clamp the front pillar in a vice as shown in the photo.
Warning: Use caution! The compressed spring has great force and when the tie breaks, it can straighten out and cause injury.
3. Install the tension springs on opposite sides and tighten the front strut spring evenly, without distortions, until the load is removed from the upper spring cup.

4. Using a slotted screwdriver, remove the rubber plug from the hole in the housing of the upper support of the front strut.

5. Install the device on the nut and the shock absorber rod.

6. Using a 17 mm wrench to hold the shock absorber rod from turning, use a 27 mm wrench to unscrew its nut.

7. Remove the nut and washer from the shock absorber rod.
8. Remove the upper support from the rack.

9. Remove the upper support of the front strut spring.

10. Remove the suspension spring (without removing the tie from it).

11. Remove the compression stop and the front shock absorber dust cover.

Assembly
1. Before installing the front strut on the vehicle, manually fully extend and retract the shock absorber rod to make sure the shock absorber is in good condition. If dips, jerks or extraneous sounds are felt when moving the rod, replace the shock absorber.
2. Check the integrity and serviceability of all elements installed on the front strut. Replace a torn or cracked shock absorber rod dust cover, a damaged compression stroke buffer, a cracked or weakened front suspension spring.
Warning: The front suspension struts and their springs are replaced on both sides of the vehicle's suspension at once.
