To perform repair work on removing and installing the front suspension wishbone on a vehicle, you will need:
- pit or overpass (desirable);
- beard.
Removal
1. Prepare the car for work (see "Preparing a car for maintenance and repair").
2. Remove the front wheel (see "Wheel - replacement").
3. Remove the engine protection (see "Engine protection - removal and installation").
4. Unscrew the two bolts securing the ball bearing to the steering knuckle (see point 4 "Ball joint of the rack - removal and installation").
Warning: Be careful when removing the bolt, the stabilizer is under tension.
5. Remove the bolt securing the stabilizer bar to the wishbone of the suspension (see points 3 and 4 "Anti-roll bar - removal, installation, replacement of cushions and struts").
6. Using two 19 mm wrenches, unscrew the nut of the bolt securing the wishbone to the body bracket, remove the bolt and move the end of the lever out of the bracket.
7. To maintain the same caster angle adjustment when installing the wishbone, count and record the number of adjusting washers located at the rear end of the longitudinal brace.
8. While holding the longitudinal tensioner from turning with a 24 mm open-end wrench, use a socket wrench of the same size with a long handle to unscrew the nut at the rear end of the tensioner.
9. Remove the thrust washer from the rear end of the longitudinal tensioner.
10. Remove the lower arm assembly with the ball joint from the longitudinal strut.
11. To avoid losing them, remove the thrust and adjusting washers from the tensioner.
12. If necessary, clamp the lever in a vice and press the ball joint pin out of it (see "Ball joint of the rack - removal, installation, replacement").
Installation
We install the front suspension wishbone and all removed parts on the car in the reverse order of removal.
Warning: The holes in the adjusting washers are chamfered on one side. When installing, the washers should be with the chamfer facing the bend of the brace.
Warning: The final tightening of the nuts securing the silent blocks of the front suspension wishbone is only performed after the vehicle has been installed on its wheels.
