Warning. Read the Precautions for Repairing the Engine Control System Before Performing Repairs (see "Precautions when repairing the engine management system").
To perform work on checking and replacing the speed sensor, you will need a multimeter (in voltmeter mode).
Removal and inspection
1. We prepare the car for work (see points 1 and 2 "Preparing the car for maintenance and repair").
2. By pressing the spring clips, disconnect the wiring harness connector from the vehicle speed sensor.
3. Connect «negative» voltmeter probe to «mass» (to the engine).
4. Turning on the ignition on the car, use a voltmeter to measure the supply voltage at the output «+» wiring harness connector (output designation is made on the sensor).
Note. The voltage at the output must be at least 12 V. If the voltage is not supplied to the connector or it is less than 12 V, then the battery is discharged, the power circuit is faulty or the computer is faulty.
5. Open-end wrench 22 mm (or by hand) unscrew the sensor.
6. Remove the sensor from the drive.
Recommendation. You can verify that the speed sensor is faulty by replacing it with a known good one.
Installation
We install on the car all the removed parts in the reverse order of removal.
