Control and measuring instruments and sensors (VAZ-2112)

            0

All the vehicle's control and measuring instruments: speedometer, odometer, tachometer, fuel level and coolant temperature indicators - are mounted on the instrument panel. The main control lamps are also located there.

The tachometer and speedometer are electronic-mechanical, and the odometer is completely electronic. Therefore, the car does not have a speedometer drive cable. Information about the speed of movement and the distance traveled is read from the vehicle speed sensor (for more details, see "Engine management system"). Odometer readings (total and daily mileage) are displayed on the liquid crystal display.

The instrument panel contains 18 A12-1.2 lamps inserted into plastic sockets. Five lamps are intended for instrument illumination; one lamp illuminates the odometer's liquid crystal display, the other lamps are control lamps. They inform the driver about the activation or malfunction of various vehicle systems.

The brake fluid level sensor is installed in the cover of the brake master cylinder reservoir. When the fluid level drops below the permissible level, the sensor float, having dropped, closes the contacts, as a result of which the control lamp lights up.

The oil pressure sensor is installed in the cylinder head. The contacts of a working sensor should close when the pressure in the engine lubrication system drops below 0.06 MPa (0.6 kgf/cm²).

Some vehicles may be equipped with an oil level sensor in the engine crankcase. It is installed on the rear wall of the cylinder block next to the oil filter.

The coolant temperature gauge sensor (TM106) is installed at the end of the engine cylinder head above the clutch housing.

Fuel level indicator sensor (and fuel reserves) installed in the fuel module (for more details, see "Power supply system").

A sensor for low washer fluid level is installed in the windshield washer reservoir. The signal from the sensor is sent to the on-board control system indicator unit.

Some vehicles are equipped with a low coolant level sensor, which is installed in the expansion tank. When the coolant level in the expansion tank drops to the lower mark, the sensor contacts close and the corresponding indicator lights up in the on-board control system indicator unit.

The car can also be equipped with sensors for wear of the brake pads of the front wheels. The signal from the sensor is output to the indicator unit of the on-board control system.
