2. Disconnect the wiring harness block from the brake fluid level sensor installed in the reservoir cap.
3. Loosen the four brake tube nuts. Unscrew the two nuts securing the brake master cylinder to the vacuum booster and carefully remove the master cylinder from the studs. Finally loosen the brake pipe nuts. Keep in mind that this will cause a small amount of liquid to flow out of the master cylinder, so place a rag under the cylinder.
4. Turn the cylinder over, drain the brake fluid from the reservoir.
5. If the new cylinder is without a reservoir, remove the reservoir from the old cylinder and remove the two rubber bushings securing the reservoir. Replace torn, cracked or loose bushings. Install the bushings and reservoir on the new cylinder.
6. Establish the main cylinder, wrap nuts of its fastening and fill in a brake liquid in a tank. Place a container or rag under the master cylinder to collect the brake fluid.
7. Close the holes for the brake pipes in the master cylinder with your fingers. Have an assistant depress the brake pedal slowly until brake fluid flows out of the front holes of the cylinder.
8. At this point, connect the tubes to the front holes of the cylinder and tighten the nuts of their fastening. At this time, the assistant must keep the pedal depressed.
Connect the tubes to the rear ports of the cylinder in the same way.
9. Install all removed parts in reverse order. Press the brake pedal and if it «soft», bleed the brake system (see «Bleeding the brake system»).
