Replace pads in the following cases:
- the thickness of the friction linings is less than the permissible one;
- the surface of the pads is oiled;
- the friction lining is loosely connected to the base;
- linings have deep grooves and chips.
Warnings! Do not use gasoline, diesel fuel or any other mineral solvents to clean the brakes.
Replace brake pads on both front wheels at the same time.
It is unacceptable to replace the inner and outer pads with each other, as well as between the left and right wheels - this can lead to uneven braking.
1. Disconnect the wire from the terminal «–» battery.
2. Brake the vehicle with the parking brake and place chocks under the rear wheels.
3. Remove the front wheel and clean the brake mechanism from dirt.
4. If the brake fluid level in the master cylinder reservoir is at «MAX» or approaches it, pump some of the fluid out of the tank. Otherwise, when installing new pads, it will pour over the edge.
5. Take out from an arm a rubber sealant together with a hose.
6. Bend the tab of the lock washer of the upper bolt of the guide pin with a screwdriver.
7. Turn out the top bolt of fastening of a directing finger, holding a finger by a key for a hexagon.
8. Rotate the brace body down around the axis of the lower pin.
9. Mark the brake pads if you intend to install them again.
10. Remove the brake pads.
Warning! The surface of the friction linings should not be oily, with deep risks and chips. The pad must be firmly connected to the base of the block.
11. Check the thickness and condition of the friction linings of the brake pads.
Helpful advice. If during the next check the thickness of the pads approaches the minimum allowable, then such pads are still operational, but their service life will soon end. Choose for yourself: either immediately replace the pads, or constantly monitor their thickness.
12. Clean the brake parts from dirt and rust, especially the seats of the brake pads.
13. When installing new pads, press the piston into the cylinder. To do this, install the worn brake pads in place (instead of the internal, it is desirable to put only the base) and lift the bracket body. Pressing a screwdriver or pry bar on the inner pad and leaning on the brake disc, gently press the piston into the cylinder.
14. Install new brake pads. Make sure the pressure springs are parallel to the top edge of the brake pads. Old pads must be installed in accordance with the previously made markings.
15. Rotate the bracket body and screw in the upper bolt of the guide pin with a torque of 31–38 N·m (3.1–3.8 kgf·m), holding your finger on the hexagon wrench.
16. Bend the tab of the lock washer with a screwdriver. Install the wheel and lower the car to the ground. Then press the brake pedal several times to set the piston to the working position. Check brake fluid level in the tank and, if necessary, bring it to normal.
