Rear wheel brake bleed valve:
You will need: Key «for 8», brake fluid, rubber or transparent hose, transparent container.
Bleeding the brake system is necessary to remove air from it that can enter the system during its repair, brake fluid replacement, depressurization of the system if pipes and hoses are damaged, or if the brake fluid level in the master brake cylinder reservoir drops.
Signs of air in the brake system are increased travel and «softness» brake pedals.
Before bleeding, inspect the brake system to make sure it is tight. Work with an assistant.
The sequence of pumping the brake mechanisms:
- rear right;
- front left;
- rear left;
- front right.
Warnings:
- Do not reuse the fluid drained from the system: it is contaminated, saturated with air and moisture. Always add only new fluid of the brand that was previously filled into the system.
- Brake fluid is hygroscopic (absorbs moisture from the surrounding air), so it can not be stored in an open container.
Check the brake fluid level in the reservoir and top up if necessary. After installing the sensor, the liquid level should be at the mark «MAX».
Clean the air release valve on the brake mechanism from dirt and dust.
Remove the protective cap from the air release valve.
Place the rubber hose over the valve head and immerse the end of the hose in a clean, transparent container partially filled with brake fluid (the end of the hose must be immersed in the liquid).
The assistant should sharply press the brake pedal 4-5 times (with an interval between pressing 1-2 s), and then keep the pedal depressed.
Loosen the air release valve 1/2-3/4 turn.
Air bubbles will be visible in the liquid flowing from the hose. When fluid stops flowing from the hose, fully close the air release valve, after which the assistant should release the brake pedal.
Repeat steps 5-7 until there are no more air bubbles in the escaping liquid. Remove the hose, wipe dry the valve fitting and put on the protective cap.
Repeat steps 2-8 for the front left, rear left and front right brakes.
