If the wing is significantly deformed or has tears, replace the wing using the following steps. Remove the bumper, hood, and front door. Remove the lighting fixtures from the wing. Use a 6-7 mm drill to drill out the contact welding points of the gutter with the body elements and separate the gutter with a thin flat chisel with a bent end. Then use a thin, sharp chisel to chop off or grind off the wing joints: with the front panel (Fig. 280) from the headlight downwards, stepping back 2-3 mm from the joint line; with the front pillar of the sidewall, stepping back 5 mm from the bend line.

Disconnect the wing, remove the remaining wing strips with a chisel. Straighten the deformed edges and clean the mounting places of the body and the new wing. Remove dirt and rust from the cavity covered by the wing, apply zinc chromate primer GF-073. Put the hood and door in place. Adjust the new wing to the mounting place and secure with clamps. Weld the wing using gas welding at the points indicated in Fig. 281. For gas welding, use brass rods of the L62 and L68 brands. After checking the fit of the wing, weld it using contact welding with a pitch of 40-50 mm or electric welding in a carbon dioxide environment with Sv-08G1S or Sv-08G2S wire with a diameter of 0.8 mm with an intermittent seam 10 mm long every 30-40 mm. The electric current should be 50-90 A.
