To control the geometry of the attachment points of the chassis nodes (pic. 278), as well as to perform complex repairs with simultaneous control, various stands and installations are used: the BS-123.000 installation with the BS-71.000 straightening device, the BS-124.000 device, the BS-167.000 frame for restoring emergency bodies, the R-620 stand, etc.
Pic. 278. The main dimensions of checking the attachment points of the units:
0 - baseline; 1 - upper radiator mount; 2 - fastening of the crankcase of the steering mechanism and the pendulum lever; 3 - axis of the brake and clutch pedals; 4 - the center of the steering mechanism; 5 - wheel center; 6 - fastening of the shock absorber of the rear suspension; 7 - the center of the rear technological hole of the central amplifier of the trunk floor; 8 - rear mount of the gas exhaust silencer; 9 - front mounting of the muffler; 10 - fastening of the transverse rod of the rear suspension; 11 - axle of the rear wheels; 12 - axes of bolts for fastening the upper longitudinal rods of the rear suspension; 13 - axes of bolts for fastening the lower longitudinal rods to the body brackets; 14 - fastening of the brackets of the lower longitudinal rods, 15 - center of the rear technological hole of the front side member of the floor; 16 - the center of the technological hole of the front side member of the floor; 17 - the center of the wheel; 18 - attachment points of the front suspension cross member; 19 - mounting of the anti-roll bar; 20 - lower radiator mount; 21 - vehicle axle; 22 - upper radiator mount; 23 - axis of the front wheels; 24 - fastening of the rear engine mount; 25 - fastening of the cardan shaft support; 26 - shock absorber mounting.
Body damage can be very different. Therefore, the repair rules in each individual case should be their own, the most suitable for these damages. In almost all cases of damage, it is necessary to remove some parts in order to locate the damage, straighten and align the body frame. In cases of serious damage, remove all easily removable inner upholstery parts to facilitate measurement, control and installation of hydraulic or screw jacks to eliminate distortions and deflections.
Editing the body by mechanical action involves stretching, extrusion and straightening of the deformed parts of the body to give them their original shapes and configurations.
Editing restores the diagonal dimensions of the openings of the wind and rear windows (pic. 279) and the distance between the flanges of the window openings along the axis of the vehicle. The difference in the diagonal dimensions of the wind and rear windows, as well as body openings for the hood and trunk lid, must not exceed 2 mm.
Most often, when repairing the frame and plumage of the body, it is necessary to replace the wings, roof panels, front and rear. Methods for replacing and repairing these parts can be taken as a basis for repairing other parts of the body frame.
