The wiper is removed from the engine compartment in the following order. Remove the brushes with levers, disconnect the wires from the battery and wiper; unscrew the nuts of the lever axles and the electric drive bracket and remove the electric drive together with the lever system. On the workbench, remove the electric drive from the bracket and disconnect the rods.
Install the cleaner in reverse order.
Repair of the wiper electric drive
To disassemble the electric drive, unscrew the screws securing cover 1 (Fig. 248) and remove it together with panel 2. Then unscrew the screws securing cover 16 to housing 7 of the electric motor and separate them. Remove anchor 8 of the electric motor. To remove gear 3 of the reducer, unscrew crank fastening nut 9, remove retaining ring 10 from the axle and remove the axle with gear 3 and washers 4 and 5 from the housing.

After disassembling, blow out the internal cavities of the electric motor with compressed air to remove carbon dust deposits and check the condition of the brushes and commutator. The brushes should move freely in the brush holders without jamming, and the springs should reliably press the brushes to the commutator. Clean the brush holders with 10-M40 sandpaper, then wipe with a clean rag slightly moistened with technical petroleum jelly. If the commutator is badly burnt or worn out, replace the anchor with a new one. Check for signs of jamming on the journals of the anchor shaft. If necessary, clean them with the same sandpaper.
When assembling, move the brushes away from the collector so as not to break them or damage their edges, and insert the anchor into the housing with special care, avoiding impacts with the poles so as not to break them.

After assembly, to center the bearings, it is recommended to tap the electric motor body with a wooden hammer, and then test the electric drive on the stand.
Checking the wiper relay-breaker
The relay-interrupter must ensure that the electric drive of the cleaner is switched on at a frequency of 9-17 cycles per minute in the temperature range from -20 to +50°C and at a voltage of 10 V. At the initial moment of switching on the cleaner for intermittent operation (while the bimetallic plate of the breaker has not yet heated up) the brushes can make up to four continuous double strokes.
