The cleaner is removed from the engine compartment in the following order. Remove the brushes with levers, disconnect the wires from the battery and cleaner; unscrew the nuts of the axles of the levers and the bracket of the electric drive and remove the electric drive together with the lever system. On the workbench, remove the electric drive from the bracket and disconnect the rods.
Install cleaner in reverse order.
Cleaner electric drive repair
To disassemble the electric drive, unscrew the screws securing the cover 1 (pic. 248) and remove it together with the panel 2. Then unscrew the screws securing the cover 16 to the body 7 of the electric motor and separate them. Take out the anchor 8 of the electric motor. To remove gear 3 of the reducer, unscrew the crank nut 9, remove the retaining ring 10 from the axle and remove the axle with gear 3 and washers 4 and 5 from the housing.

1 - cover; 2 - panel; 3 - gear reducer; 4 - steel washer; 5 - textolite washer; 6 - cracker; 7 - body; 8 - anchor; 9 - crank 10 - retaining ring; 11 - protective cap; 12 - spring washer; 13 - sealing ring; 14 - adjusting washer; 15 - thrust bearing; 16 - motor cover.
After disassembly, blow out the internal cavities of the electric motor with compressed air to remove deposits of coal dust and check the condition of the brushes and commutator. The brushes should move freely, without jamming, in the brush holders, and the springs should firmly press the brushes to the collector. Clean the brush holders with 10-M40 sandpaper, and then wipe with a clean cloth lightly dampened with petroleum jelly. If the collector is badly burned or worn out, replace the anchor with a new one. Check for signs of seizing on the necks of the armature shaft. If necessary, clean them with the same sandpaper.
When assembling, take the brushes away from the commutator so as not to break them or damage their edges, and insert the anchor into the housing with extreme care, avoiding hitting the poles so as not to break them.
After assembly, to center the bearings, it is recommended to knock on the motor housing with a wooden hammer, and then check the motor on the stand.
Cleaner Breaker Relay Test
The relay-breaker must ensure the inclusion of the electric drive of the cleaner with a frequency of 9-17 cycles per minute in the temperature range from -20 to +50°C and at a voltage of 10 V. At the initial moment of switching on the cleaner for intermittent operation (the bimetallic breaker plate has not yet heated up) the brushes can make up to four continuous double strokes.
