Car tailgate (VAZ-2109)

The tailgate is interchangeable on all the cars in question. The door is hung on the rear roof beam with two hinges 3 (figure 142). Gaskets 2 and 4 are installed under the hinge links. In the open position, the door is held by two gas-filled stops 6. The stops are hinged to the body and the door. A piston is inserted into the upper tubular body of the stop, the rod of which comes out of the body through the seal. A special liquid lubricating the rod and gas are placed between the piston and the bottom of the body. Since the gas is under pressure, disassembling the stop is not allowed.



If it is necessary to adjust the position of the door in the body opening, loosen the nuts securing the fixed hinges and, using the enlarged holes in the body, adjust the gaps between the door and the body.

Tailgate lock (figure 143) is attached to the inner door panel, the lock retainer 3 is attached to the upper crossbar 2 of the rear of the body. To prevent vibration of the rear door, there is a special spike on the lock (not shown in figure 143), which, when the door is closed, enters the conical socket of the upper part of the latch.





The enlarged holes in the retainer for the screws that attach it to the rear crossbar allow you to adjust the position of the retainer. Before adjusting, it is recommended to outline the contours of the retainer on the body crossbar. If the lock is difficult to lock, loosen the retainer mounting screws and move it to the desired position. Then tighten the screws.
