Tank 7 is installed in the engine compartment on bracket 6 of the right mudguard and is secured with a clamp. At the bottom of the tank there is a branch pipe, which is connected to the injection pump by pipe 5. Two necks of the tank are closed at the top with a lid and a plug. A filter is installed under the lid. The tank with the lid and plug are made of polyethylene.
The injection pump 9 and electromagnetic valves 1 and 3 are attached to the bracket next to the tank. The pump and valves are connected to the jets by tubes (figure 150), the housings of which are made of plastic. The windshield washer jets are installed in the openings of the outer panel of the hood, the rear window washer - in the roof panel above the tailgate.
Figure 150. Windscreen and rear window washer jets:
1 - rear window washer nozzle; 2 - sprayers; 3 - seals; 4 - windshield washer nozzle.
The liquid from the tank is supplied by a pump through electromagnetic valves (when voltage is applied to them) through the tubes to the washer jets. Through the sprayers 2, inserted into the spherical sockets of the housings 4 of the sprayers, the liquid is supplied to the upper zone of the sectors described by the wiper brushes. The direction of the stream is regulated by changing the position of the sprayer in the nozzle socket. To do this, insert the needle into the hole of the sprayer of the sprayer and carefully turn the sprayer so that the stream of liquid gets into the required zone.
In warm seasons, you can fill the tank with clean water, and in cold weather (up to minus 25°C) only a mixture of 25...33% NIISS-4 liquid (TU 38-1-02-30-76) or "Auto glass cleaner-2" (TU 6-15-1363-82) with water (30 cm³ per 1 l of water).
The operation of the wipers and washers is controlled by the switch lever. This lever is located on the right side of the steering column and has corresponding symbols - position indicators. Each of the eight positions of the lever corresponds to a certain mode of operation of the wipers and washers:
- I — windshield and rear window wipers and washers are off;
- II — non-fixed position of the lever, intermittent windshield wiper mode is on;
- III — fixed position of the lever, intermittent windshield wiper mode is on;
- IV — the first speed of the windshield wiper is on;
- V — the second speed of the windshield wiper is on;
- VI — (towards you) non-fixed position, windshield washer and windshield wiper are on at the same time;
- VII — (away from you) fixed position of the lever, rear window wiper is on;
- VIII — (away from you) non-fixed position of the lever, rear window wiper and washer are on.
On VAZ-2109 and 21093 vehicles, headlight glass cleaners and washers can be installed in an optional design.
