If the vacuum booster fails, the force on the brake pedal increases significantly, which negatively affects driving. Fuel consumption also increases due to air leakage into the engine cylinders.
1. With the engine off, press the brake pedal 5-6 times.
2. While holding the brake pedal down, start the engine. The brake pedal should move forward. If this does not happen, check the fastening of the vacuum hose to the non-return valve and to the fitting on the inlet pipe.
3. Tighten the hose clamp on the engine intake pipe if necessary.
4. If the hose is loose on the check valve, replace the hose. Check the amplifier again. If the pedal does not move forward, the brake booster is most likely out of order. To repair it, contact a car service.
