- 1. Coolant leak from the pump.
- 2. Depreciation of the pump bearing, as evidenced by increased noise during its operation.
Before the beginning: Disconnect the wire from the terminal "–" battery and drain the coolant (see subsection 11.5.7.).
1 - tension roller; 2 - camshaft pulley; 3 - camshaft drive belt; 4 - generator pulley; 5 - alternator belt; 6 - crankshaft pulley; 7 - water pump pulley
Mounting points for the rear cover of the camshaft drive and water pump.
Attention! After removing the camshaft drive belt, it is forbidden to turn the camshaft and crankshaft, otherwise the pistons may hit the valves.
1. Unscrew the three bolts securing the front cover of the camshaft drive and remove it.
2. Set the piston of the first cylinder to the top dead center. To do this, turn the crankshaft by the crankshaft pulley bolt so that the mark on the camshaft pulley is opposite the mark on the rear cover of the camshaft drive.
3. Loosen the idler pulley mounting nut and loosen the belt tension by turning the pulley.
4. Remove the belt from the camshaft pulleys and water pump.
5. Loosen the camshaft pulley bolt. To prevent the camshaft from turning, insert a screwdriver into the hole in the pulley and rest it against the nut securing the rear cover.
6. Remove the camshaft pulley with two screwdrivers.
7. Loosen the nut and four bolts securing the rear cover (see note).
8. Take aside the rear cover and remove the water pump by prying it with a screwdriver on the toothed pulley.
9. If the pump cannot be removed, push the motor aside.
