To carry out repair work you will need:
- 8mm Allen key with extension;
- vice with soft pads.
Removal
1. Remove the rear brake cylinder from the shield (see "Rear brake cylinder - removal, installation, replacement").
2. Using an 8 mm Allen key, through the hole in the hub flange, unscrew the four bolts securing its axle.

3. Passing the handbrake cable through the hole in the support shield, remove the axle assembly with the hub and support shield.

4. Secure the support shield in a vice with soft jaws. Using a large Phillips screwdriver and a ratchet, unscrew the two screws securing the support shield.

5. Remove the rear brake shield from the hub axle.
Installation
1. Assemble in reverse order.
2. Remove air from the hydraulic drive system (see "Bleeding brakes (brake system), brake fluid replacement").
3. To automatically adjust the gaps between the brake pads and the drum, after installing it, press the brake pedal several times.
4. Adjust the handbrake (see "Checking and adjusting the handbrake").
