The handbrake lever stroke should be 2-4 clicks.
To adjust the handbrake, you will need an inspection pit or overpass.
Adjusting the handbrake
1. Prepare the car for repair work (see points 2b and 4 "Preparing a car for maintenance and repair").
2. Fully lower the handbrake lever.
3. Using a 13 mm open-end wrench to hold the adjusting nut from turning, loosen the lock nut with a 13 mm open-end wrench.

4. Tighten the adjusting nut 2-3 turns.
5. Check the handbrake lever travel. If it is large, tighten the adjusting nut; if the handbrake lever travel is less than 3 clicks, loosen the adjusting nut.
Note: If the length of the threaded section of the rod is not sufficient to adjust the stroke of the handbrake lever, the drive cables must be replaced.
6. Having adjusted the stroke of the handbrake lever, we lift the rear of the car with a jack. We check the ease of rotation of the rear wheels and the reliability of their fixation by the handbrake.
7. If the brake pads do not interfere with the rotation of the wheels, secure the adjusting nut with a lock nut.
8. Check the functionality of the parking brake system: on an incline of at least 23%, the parking brake system must reliably hold the vehicle stationary.
