Removing
1. We prepare the car for repair work (see paragraphs 2b and 4 "Preparing the car for maintenance and repair").
2. Fully lower the hand brake lever.
3. We release the tension of the handbrake cables (see points 2 and 3 "Checking and adjusting the hand brake").
4. Using a socket wrench with a deep head of 7 mm, unscrew the two guide pins on the rear brake drum.
5. Thoroughly clean the cylindrical seating surface of the brake drum on the hub from dirt and corrosion.
6. We process the seat of the brake drum with a penetrating lubricant.
7. To facilitate the removal of the brake drum, we tap it with a hammer with a rubber striker.
8. With a puller or by screwing M8 bolts into two threaded holes of the brake drum (length of the threaded part 60-70 mm) and evenly wrapping both bolts, we compress the brake drum from the hub.
Warning. To avoid damage to the working brake cylinder, do not press the brake pedal with the brake drum removed.
Installation
Warning. The maximum permissible inner diameter of the brake drum is 201.5 mm. A worn brake drum must be replaced.
1. With two mounting blades, resting the ends of the blades against the flange of the brake mechanism shield, we shift the brake pads in the opposite direction.
2. We install the brake drum and all removed parts on the car in the reverse order of removal.
3. To self-adjust the gap between the brake pads and the brake drum, press the brake pedal several times.
4. Adjust the handbrake (see "Checking and adjusting the hand brake").
