Removing
1. We prepare the car for work (see paragraphs 2b and 4 "Preparing the car for maintenance and repair").
2. We press out the fingers of the ball joints of both outer ends of the steering rods from the pivot arms of the front suspension struts (see points 4-6 "Tie rod end - removal, installation, replacement").
3. Unscrew and remove the coupling bolt of the lower flange of the elastic coupling, and open the flange with a large slotted screwdriver (see point 7 "Steering column assembly - removal, installation, replacement").
4. With a socket wrench with a deep head of 13 mm, we turn off two nuts of the right and left brackets for fastening the steering mechanism to the partition of the engine compartment.
5. Remove the steering gear mounting brackets, move the steering gear slightly forward, removing it from the mounting studs and disengaging the drive gear shaft from engagement with the lower coupling flange.
6. Turning the steering mechanism with the drive gear shaft up, we remove it from the engine compartment through the opening in the left mudguard.
Installation
We install the steering gear and all removed parts on the car in the reverse order of removal, while the assistant in the car interior puts the lower coupling flange on the steering gear shaft in the required position (see «Installation» "Steering column assembly - removal, installation, replacement").
