Removing
1. We prepare the car for work (see item 2a "Preparing the car for maintenance and repair").
2. Remove the steering wheel (see "Steering wheel - removal, installation, replacement").
3. Remove the decorative lining of the steering column (see "Decorative overlays of a steering column - removal and installation").
4. Remove the right and left steering column switches together with the connector (see "Paddle switches - removal, installation, replacement").
5. With wire cutters, we bite the clamping clamp of the three wire harnesses and disconnect the connectors of the ignition switch wiring harness.
6. Using a 13 mm socket wrench with an extension, unscrew the coupling bolt of the lower flange of the steering sleeve.
7. Use a large slotted screwdriver to open the steering sleeve flange.
8. Using a chisel and a hammer, applying tangential light blows to the edge of the round head, loosen the two special bolts of the front mounting of the steering column.
9. We finally unscrew the special bolts with pliers and remove them together with the fixing plates.
10. Using a socket wrench with a deep head of 13 mm, unscrew the two nuts of the rear mounting of the steering column.
11. We lower the steering column down a little and, pulling it towards ourselves, remove the lower coupling flange from the steering gear shaft.
12. Remove the steering column from the car.
Installation
1. There is a flat on the drive gear shaft. We put the coupling flange on the steering gear drive shaft in a position where the slot of the coupling tip coincides with the central longitudinal line of the flat.
2. We wrap (without delay) coupling flange pinch bolt.
3. We put the steering column on the studs and wrap the nuts on the rear mounting of the bracket.
4. Wrap (without finally tightening) two special bolts with detachable heads, having previously installed fixing plates under the bolts. The protruding part of the plate should fit into the slots of the bracket. In the absence of special bolts with a detachable head, M6 bolts with a length of 20 mm can be used.
Warning. Do not install ordinary washers under the bracket front fastening bolts instead of fixing plates!
5. Tighten the coupling bolt of the flexible coupling flange, two front mounting bolts (before head breaking) and two nuts for the rear mounting of the steering column bracket.
6. We connect the connectors of the wires of the ignition switch.
7. We install the steering column switches assembly with the connector on the steering column and connect the wire blocks to the switches (see "Paddle switches - removal, installation, replacement").
8. Install the steering wheel (see "Steering wheel - removal, installation, replacement").
9. Install the steering column trim.
10. We check the operation of the sound signal, switches and adjust the steering column in terms of tilt.
