Disassembling the CV joint
1. Remove the outer hinge (see items 1-10 "CV joint (outer joint of front wheel drive) - removal, replacement of the boot and installation").
2. Having installed soft pads on the jaws of the vice, we fix the CV joint in the vice. We wipe the end surface of the inner race, separator and CV joint housing with solvent. We apply marks with a permanent marker, allowing us to install the listed parts in the same mutual position during assembly.
Helpful Hint: If you don't have a permanent marker, you can use a diamond file to make marks.

3. By lightly striking the inner ring of the joint with a hammer through a soft metal punch, tilt the joint to a position in which the first ball (1) located opposite the mark on the joint body (2) can be removed.

4. We remove the first ball from the separator and place it in a specially prepared groove, which allows us to place the balls in a row without mixing them up.

5. Moving clockwise, in the same way, we remove the remaining five balls from the separator and place them in the prepared trough in strict accordance with the order in which they were removed from the separator.

6. Having removed all the balls, we turn the separator so that its windows are located opposite the edges of the hinge housing. We remove the separator together with the inner race from the hinge housing.

7. Turn the inner race and remove it from the separator.

8. Thoroughly wash all CV joint parts in kerosene.
9. Check the condition of the CV joint by visual inspection. If there are signs of wear or corrosion on the parts, replace the CV joint as a whole. Replacing individual parts or balls from another CV joint is not allowed.
CV joint assembly
1. Insert the inner race into the separator.

2. Having positioned the cage in the separator so that the grooves for the balls are opposite the separator windows, we insert the separator together with the cage into the hinge housing.

3. Having aligned the marks on the inner race (1), separator and joint housing (2), insert the first ball into the separator.

4. Clockwise, install the remaining five balls, each one exactly in the place from which it was removed during disassembly.

5. Install the outer joint on the drive shaft (see "Installing the CV joint" p. 1-8 "CV joint (outer joint of front wheel drive) - removal, replacement of the boot and installation").
