Removing
1. Remove the timing belt (see "Timing belt - replacement").
2. Unscrew the nut and bolt of the upper fastening of the rear cover of the timing belt (see "Coolant pump - replacement").
3. Disconnect the throttle cable from the sector and unscrew the bolts of the cable bracket (see "Engine receiver 2111 (1,5i 8v) - removal, replacement of seals and installation", or "Engine receiver 21114 (1,6i 8v) - removal, replacement of seals and installation").
4. On the engine with phased fuel injection disconnect the wiring harness from the camshaft position sensor connector (see "Camshaft position sensor - replacement").
5. socket wrench by 10 mm unscrew the bolt and two nuts securing the plug.
6. A rubber o-ring is installed on the plug mounting bolt. Replace damaged sealing ring.
7. Remove the plug.
Comment. On the engine with a camshaft position transmitter, the plug can only be removed if the pin (1) located opposite the slot (2).
8. Remove the sealing ring of the plug.
Recommendation. The sealing ring must be replaced with a new one if it is damaged or if oil has leaked from under the plug.
9. Remove the cylinder head cover (see "Cylinder head cover for 2111 and 21114 engines (8v) - removal and installation, gasket replacement").
10. socket wrench by 13 mm evenly (in several steps) unscrew the ten nuts securing the two bearing housings.
11. Remove the front bearing housing.
12. Remove the rear bearing housing.
13. We remove the camshaft from the cylinder head by slightly pulling the rear cover of the timing belt.
14. Remove the oil seal from the camshaft.
Installation
1. Lubricate the camshaft journals with clean engine oil.
2. We lay the camshaft in the cylinder head with the pin up.
3. Before installing the bearing housings on the mating plane of the block head in the area of the front oil seal...
... and plugs apply a thin layer of sealant.
4. Evenly, in several stages, we wrap the nuts of the bearing housings until the housings come into contact with the cylinder head (following the sequence shown in the photo). After that, tighten the nuts with a torque of 18.38-22.64 N·m (1.87-2.31 kgf·m).
Bearing housing nuts tightening sequence
5. We press in a new camshaft oil seal (see "Camshaft seals - replacement").
6. Before installing the plug, we put an o-ring on it.
7. Further assembly is carried out in the reverse order of removal.
