Removing
1. Remove the timing belt (see "Timing belt - replacement").
2. Unscrew the nut and bolt of the upper fastening of the rear cover of the timing belt (see "Coolant pump - replacement").
3. Remove the cylinder head cover (see "Cylinder head cover gasket - replacement").
4. On engines with phased fuel injection disconnect the wiring harness from the camshaft position sensor (see "Camshaft Position Sensor - Check and Replace").
5. Disconnect the wiring harness block from the coolant temperature sensor (see "Coolant temperature sensor - check and replace").
6. socket wrench by 10 mm unscrew the bolt and two nuts securing the plug.
A rubber o-ring is installed under the plug fastening bolt. Replace damaged sealing ring.
7. Remove the plug.
Note: On an engine with a camshaft position sensor, the plug can only be removed if the pin (1) located opposite the slot (2).
8. Remove the sealing ring of the plug.
Recommendation: The O-ring must be replaced if it is damaged or if oil has leaked from under the plug.
9. socket wrench by 13 mm evenly (in several steps) unscrew the ten nuts securing the two bearing housings.
10. Remove the front bearing housing.
11. Remove the rear bearing housing.
12. We remove the camshaft from the cylinder head by slightly pulling the rear cover of the timing belt.
13. Remove the oil seal from the camshaft.
Installation
1. Lubricate the camshaft journals with clean engine oil.
2. We lay the camshaft in the cylinder head with the pin up.
3. Before installing the bearing housings on the mating plane of the block head in the areas of the front seal and plug, apply a thin layer of sealant.
4. Evenly, in several stages, we wrap the nuts of the bearing housings until the housings come into contact with the cylinder head (following the sequence shown in the photo). Then we tighten the nuts with a torque of 18.4-22.6 N·m (1.9-2.3 kgf·m).
5. We press in a new camshaft oil seal (see "Camshaft oil seal - replacement").

6. Before installing the plug, we put an o-ring on it.
7. Further assembly is carried out in the reverse order of removal.
