Set TDC according to the mark on the camshaft pulley (when installed according to the marks on the flywheel or crankshaft pulley, the piston of either the 1st or 4th cylinder can be in this position). After that, be sure to check that the marks on the flywheel or on the crankshaft toothed pulley match (if the alternator drive pulley is removed). If the marks on the flywheel or crankshaft pulley do not match, then the valve timing is incorrect (1st cylinder piston not set to TDC). In this case, it is necessary to remove the camshaft drive belt and turn the crankshaft until the marks are aligned.
Warning! Turn the crankshaft only by the bolt securing the pulley to it (it is forbidden to turn the crankshaft by the camshaft pulley).
Helpful advice. Since it is inconvenient to turn the crankshaft by the pulley fastening bolt to it, you can do this in the following ways:
- Turn on any gear (better IV) and slowly drive the vehicle until the mark on the camshaft pulley aligns with the mark on the rear cover of the camshaft drive belt.
- Engage any gear and hang one of the front wheels. Then turn the suspended wheel until the mark on the camshaft pulley matches the mark on the rear cover of the camshaft drive belt.
TDC marks are applied to the camshaft pulley (ledge) and on the rear cover of the camshaft drive belt (tendril).
In addition, marks are applied on the flywheel (risk) and on the scale of the rear shield of the clutch housing (triangular cut). The gearbox has been removed for clarity.
Additionally, the marks are applied to the crankshaft toothed pulley (dot) and oil pump cover (triangular cut). These marks are only visible when the alternator drive pulley is removed.
You will need: ring wrench «at 17», socket wrench «on 10».
1. Disconnect the wire from the terminal «-» battery.
2. Set the gearshift lever to neutral position, place wheel chocks under the vehicle wheels.
3. Remove the right front wheel and the right mudguard of the engine compartment.
4. Open the hood and remove the three screws securing the front cover of the camshaft drive belt. Please note: the wire holders are also fixed with the screws on the side fastening of the cover. Remove the front cover.
5. Turn the crankshaft by the bolt securing the alternator drive pulley to it until the marks on the camshaft pulley and the rear cover match.
6. Remove the plug from the hole in the clutch housing and check the alignment of the marks on the flywheel.
