Recommendation. You can try to replace the valve stem seals on the VAZ 2112 (1.5i) engine without removing the head from the cylinder block. To do this, set the piston of the cylinder, the valve stem seal of which is subject to replacement, to the TDC position and, having removed the spark plug guide pipes, insert a stop under the valve through the spark plug hole (tin rod with a diameter of 2-3 mm). But it is quite difficult to do this.
Replacement of valve stem seals is performed on the removed cylinder head of the VAZ 21124 (l, 6i) engine.
To replace the valve stem seals you will need:
- valve spring compressor;
- tweezers;
- valve stem seal remover;
- mandrel for pressing caps.
Removal
1. Remove the cylinder head (see "Cylinder head - removal and installation").
2. If the cylinder head was dismantled together with the camshafts, remove the camshafts (see "Camshafts - removal, installation, replacement").
3. Remove the hydraulic compensators from their seats in the head (see "Hydraulic compensators - removal, installation, replacement").
4. Screw the M6 bolt into the threaded hole of the cylinder head.
5. Place the valve spring compressor grip under the bolt head and place the stop on the spring plate.
Warning: When performing the following operation, do not scratch the walls of the hydraulic tappet seat with the valve spring compressor!
6. Pressing the valve spring compressor handle, compress the valve spring.
7. Keeping the valve spring compressed, use tweezers to remove the two valve crackers.
8. Smoothly release the valve spring and remove the valve spring compressor.
9. Using tweezers, remove the valve spring plate.

Remove the valve spring support washer.
10. Install the puller grip on the oil scraper cap.
11. Press the oil seal off the guide sleeve.
Installation
1. Apply clean engine oil to the working edge of the new valve stem seal and, being careful not to cut it on the sharp edges of the valve stem grooves, place the valve stem seal on the stem.
2. Using light hammer blows through the mandrel, press the oil scraper cap until it stops on the guide sleeve.
3. Install the support washer, spring, spring plate and crackers in the reverse order of removal.
