Recommendation. Replace valve stem seals on a VAZ 2112 engine (1,5i) you can try without removing the head from the cylinder block. To do this, it is necessary to set the piston of the cylinder, the valve stem seal of which is to be replaced, to the TDC position and, having removed the guide tubes of the spark plugs, insert a stop under the valve through the spark plug hole (tin rod with a diameter of 2-3 mm). But it is difficult enough to do so.
The valve stem seals are replaced on the removed cylinder head of the VAZ 21124 engine (l,6i).
To replace the valve stem seals, you will need:
- cracker;
- tweezers;
- oil seal remover;
- mandrel for pressing caps.
Removing
1. Remove the cylinder head (see "Cylinder head - removal and installation").
2. If the cylinder head was dismantled complete with camshafts, remove the camshafts (see "Camshafts - removal, installation, replacement").
3. We take out the hydraulic lifters from the seats in the head (see "Hydraulic compensators - removal, installation, replacement").
4. We wrap the M6 bolt into the threaded hole of the cylinder head.
5. We start the grip of the cracker under the head of the bolt, and set the emphasis on the spring plate.
Warning. When performing the following operation, do not scratch the walls of the seat of the hydraulic pushers with a cracker!
6. By pressing on the handle of the cracker, we compress the valve spring.
7. Holding the valve spring compressed, use tweezers to remove two valve crackers.
8. Slowly release the valve spring and remove the cracker.
9. Remove the valve spring plate with tweezers.
Remove the valve spring.
Remove the valve spring washer.
10. Install the grip of the puller on the valve stem seal.
11. We press the valve stem seal from the guide bushing.
Installation
1. We apply clean engine oil to the working edge of the new valve stem seal and carefully, so as not to cut it on the sharp edges of the valve stem grooves, put the valve stem cap on the stem.
2. With light hammer blows through the mandrel, we press the valve stem seal against the stop on the guide sleeve.
3. Install the support washer, spring, spring plate and crackers in the reverse order of removal.
Similarly, we change the valve stem seals on other valves.
