Remove the brake drum (see subsection 7.2.1.).
The hub has two single-row roller bearings. During operation, it is necessary to adjust the clearances and replace the grease in the bearings.
If, when the wheel is suspended, there is play that cannot be eliminated by adjustment, or noise appears during movement, it is likely that the hub bearings are out of order.
Possible failure of one of the wheel bearings. Bearings should turn freely, without jamming. Rollers and bearing rings must be free of pits, chips or wear. Replace defective bearing.
1. Through a hole in the drum (removing the plug) knock off the protective ring from the hub.
2. Using a screwdriver, pry the seal out of the hub.
3. Remove the rear bearing from the hub.
4. Using a punch or punch, press the outer races of both bearings out of the hub.
5. Rinse thoroughly with kerosene or white spirit and dry the inside of the hub.
6. Install the rear bearing outer race with the smaller inner diameter inside the hub and press the race into the hub until it stops, using a suitable mandrel.
7. If there is no mandrel, pick up a flat metal plate and...
8.... press the ring in as deep as possible. Then...
9....saddle the ring to the stop with a beard, evenly hitting diametrically opposite sides of the ring, or with the help of an old bearing ring.
10. Press the outer ring of the front bearing into the hub in the same way (smaller inner diameter inside the hub).
11. Lubricate both bearings with Litol-24 grease and...
12....the outer races of the bearings, and also fill the inner cavity of the hub between the bearing races with grease.
13. Lubricate the working lip of the new oil seal with Litol-24 grease.
14. Reinstall the rear bearing and oil seal with the lip facing into the hub.
15. Using a suitable mandrel, press the oil seal into the hub until it stops (flush with hub end).
16. Install the protective ring and press it onto the hub until it stops. After that, install the brake drum in place and adjust the clearances in the bearings (see subsection 5.2.4.).
