Replacing grease in front wheel hub bearings (VAZ-2101)

To replace the grease, loosen the wheel mounting bolts and, after raising the front part of the car, remove the wheels. Bend back the petals of the locking plates, unscrew the brake caliper mounting bolts, remove the caliper and move it to the side without disconnecting the fluid supply hoses, so that air and dirt do not get into the hydraulic drive system. In this case, the caliper should not hang on the pipelines. Use puller 67.7801.9514 or a screwdriver to remove the wheel hub cap. Unscrew the adjusting nut and remove the washer. Use puller A.40005/1/9B to press off the hub assembly with the brake disc, outer bearing and oil seal. Carefully, so as not to damage the oil seal, remove the hub from the steering knuckle. Rinse the inner cavity of the hub and bearings. Before installation, fill the bearing separators with Litol-24 grease. The space between the outer bearing rings on the inner surface of the hub is filled with the same grease in the amount of 40 g, and 25 g of grease is placed in the hub cap before installation. Then, carefully, so as not to damage the seal, install the hub assembly with the brake disc on the pivot pin of the steering knuckle, then the inner ring of the outer bearing, the washer and screw in a new one (or used, but on a different car) nut and adjust the clearance in the bearings as described above.

Wheel balancing. Wheels are balanced on stands. After balancing, the maximum permissible imbalance of a wheel with a tire is 2600 g mm. Wheel imbalance is eliminated by balancing weights, which are held on the rim by special springs. An imbalance of 2600 g mm corresponds to a weight of about 15 g. It is not recommended to exceed the weight of the weights in each plane.
