Lower the parking brake lever all the way down (the car is released).
Raise the rear wheel and spin it; if the wheel touches the pads, move them together using the adjusting nut of the spacer bar (see subsection 7.4.4.).
Remove the rear wheel.
The clearance in the rear wheel hub bearings should be 0.02–0.13 mm.
The maximum permissible gap is 0.2 mm.
Recommendation: Measure the gap using an indicator.
If there is no indicator, swing the suspended wheel in a vertical plane. If you feel any play, then you need to adjust the clearance in the bearings.
1. Remove the wheel hub cap.
2. Bend the cotter pin and remove it from the hole in the hub axle.
3. Using a torque wrench, tighten the nut to 20 Nm (2 kgf/m), while turning the drum in both directions to adjust the bearings.
4. While holding the drum from turning, loosen the nut and tighten it again to a torque of 7 Nm (0.7 kgf/m).
5. Unscrew the nut until the nearest slot in the nut aligns with the hole in the axle for the cotter pin, insert the cotter pin and bend its ends.

6. Install the protective cap, putting 25 g of Litol-24 grease in it. If you have brought the pads together, spread them apart and adjust the gaps between the pads and the brake drum.
