Sidelights

On VAZ-2101 and VAZ-2102 cars, PF-140 type sidelights are installed, and on VAZ-2103 cars, PF-145 type sidelights are installed. Sidelights are attached to the front of the car and are enclosed in rubber covers to protect from water and dirt from the inside of the car.

The PF-140 sidelight has a colorless transparent plastic diffuser 2, attached to the housing 1 with two screws 9. A rubber gasket 3 is installed between the diffuser and the housing. The housing is cast from zinc alloy and has holes for ventilation of the sidelight chamber. The studs 8 for fastening the sidelight are cast into the housing. A socket 5 with a plastic holder 7 contacts is fixed in the housing. A two-filament lamp A12-21+5 is installed in the socket; the 21W filament serves as a turn signal, and the 5W filament serves as a side light.

The PF-145 sidelight has a housing divided by a partition into two chambers. A single-filament A12-21-3 turn signal lamp is installed in the larger chamber, and an A12-5 sidelight lamp is installed in the smaller chamber. The diffuser 2 is two-color plastic. Steel chrome reflectors 11 are riveted inside the housing. The sidelight is attached to the car with two bolts 13. Screws 9 for fastening the diffuser are screwed into the heads of these bolts.

Sidelights are divided into right and left (the index "P" or "L" is added to the sidelight type designation). They differ in installation dimensions, and PF-145 sidelights also differ in the location of the cameras, since the turn signal camera must always be on the outside of the car.

Side direction indicators

On VAZ-2101 and VAZ-2102 cars, side direction indicators of the UP-140 type are installed, and on VAZ-2103 - of the UP-145 type. They are attached to the front wings of the car with two screws 16. The indicators use the A12-4 lamp.

The UP-140 direction indicator has an orange plastic diffuser attached to the base by a rim 14. The base consists of a steel plate and a cylindrical lamp holder shell stamped onto it, into which a lamp holder 5 with a lamp 17 and a plastic holder 7 can be inserted and removed. A ring rubber gasket is placed on the cylindrical part of the base.

The UP-145 direction indicator has a cast metal housing 1, in which the cartridge 5 with the holder 7 is fixed. The plastic diffuser is fixed to the housing with two screws 9. The rubber gasket 3 fits around the housing and is clamped between the diffuser and the housing. In the lower part of the housing there are two holes for ventilation of the indicator chamber. The heads of the screws 16 are cast in the housing.

Direction indicators UP-145 are divided into right and left (the letter "P" or "L" is added to the indicator type designation). Left indicators are a mirror image of the right ones in shape.

Front door opening alarm light

The FP-146 light is installed on the edges of the lower part of the front doors of VAZ-2103 cars. It is attached with two screws and is located in the door in a rubber cover.

The flashlight has a steel body 1 with slots that allow the socket with the plastic plug holder to be inserted and removed. The red plastic diffuser is clamped between the body and the steel chromed frame 38 riveted to the body. There is a rubber gasket 3 between the diffuser and the body. The A12-5 lamp is installed in the flashlight.

Rear lights

The FP-140 type lights are installed on VAZ-2101 cars, the FP-142 type - on VAZ-2102, and the FP-145 type - on VAZ-2103. The lights are attached to the outer panel of the rear of the car below the trunk lid (for VAZ-2101 and VAZ-2103) or to the rear fenders on both sides of the rear door (at VAZ-2102). Plastic spacers are installed under the lights.

All lights are double-chambered. A double-filament lamp A12-21+5 is installed in one chamber for the side light (filament 5 W) and brake light (thread 21 W), and in the other chamber there is a single-filament lamp A12-21-3 of the turn signal.

The FP-140 flashlight has a chrome-plated housing 1, cast from zinc alloy, and two transparent plastic diffusers: orange 18 for the turn signal and red 23 for the brake signal and parking light. Along the edges of the housing there are grooves into which the projections of the diffusers fit. Moreover, the red diffuser has two projections, and the corresponding groove in the housing is provided with a partition, and the orange diffuser has one projection, but shorter than the two projections of the red diffuser. Therefore, the red diffuser cannot be put in place of the orange one and vice versa. In the middle part, the diffusers are pressed to the housing by a metal chrome-plated partition 21, which is fastened to the housing by a screw 20. A rubber gasket 3 is installed between the diffusers and the housing. From the rear side, plastic holders 25 with contacts and plugs and plastic insulating plates 24 covering them are riveted to the housing.

FP-140 lights are divided into right and left (FP-140P and FP-140L). They differ in the surface of the housing that is connected to the car's rear panel and the location of the cameras. The turn signal camera is located on the outside of the car. The lights are mounted on two studs 8, cast into the housing.

The FP-142 headlights of the VAZ-2102 automobile are distinguished by the vertical arrangement of the chambers and the built-in reflector 32. The housing 1 of the headlight is cast from zinc alloy and chromed or made of plastic and metallized. The holders of 25 contacts and plugs, 5 lamp sockets, and if the housing is plastic, then also a metal jumper 30 connecting the lamp sockets are riveted to the housing.

Diffuser 2 of the FP-142 flashlight is a plastic one-piece two-color. The square plastic reflector is glued into the socket at the bottom of the diffuser. The diffuser is attached to the housing with screw 9 with plastic nut 29 and screw 31. This screw simultaneously serves to attach the flashlight and is screwed into a steel bracket, which is put on the bent upper edge of the socket under the flashlight in the rear wing of the car. The flashlight is hooked onto the lower edge of the socket by grooves 28 in the ribs of the housing.

The FP-145 headlight of the VAZ-2103 car has a side light and brake light chamber and a reflector in the upper part. The turn signal chamber is located in the lower part of the housing. The housing is cast from zinc alloy and chromed. Just like the FP-142 headlight, lamp sockets and plastic holders 25 are riveted to the housing. The diffuser 2 is a one-piece two-color plastic. A square plastic reflector is glued into a socket in the upper part of the diffuser. The diffuser is attached to the housing with a plastic metallized strip 33 and two screws 9, which are screwed into the heads of the bolts 13 for fastening the headlight. The lights are divided into right and left (FP-145P and FP-145L). They differ in the location of the reflectors. The reflector of the right lantern is located on the left, and the left one is located on the right.

Reflector

On VAZ-2101 cars, reflectors are not installed in the rear lights, as in the VAZ-2102 and VAZ-2103, but separately, under the rear lights. Reflector type - FP-312. Reflectors, unlike lights, do not have a lamp and are light-signaling devices that reflect the light falling on them.

The FP-312 reflector consists of a metallized plastic housing 1, a colorless plastic base 35, and a red plastic reflective element 34. The outer surface of the element is smooth, and on the inner surface there is a system of prisms that reflect light. The reflective element is welded to the base 35 by ultrasonic welding, and the head of the bolt 36 is cast into the base, which attaches the element with the base to the housing. The reflector is also attached to the outer panel of the rear of the car with the same bolt.
