Individual headlights and headlights do not light up
Causes of the malfunction and how to fix it:
- the fuse has blown. By tab. 3 see what other lamps this fuse protects, and if they also do not burn, then replace this fuse. If the remaining lamps are on, then either the lamp has burned out, or there is no voltage applied to it;
- the lamp filament burned out. Remove the lamp from the lantern and see if the thread is intact. Additionally, you can check by connecting the lamp with two wires to the battery. Replace the burnt out lamp;
- wires are damaged, lugs are oxidized or their connections are loose. If the fuse and the lamp are in good condition, then it is necessary to check all the wires and their connections that supply voltage to this lamp, replace the damaged wires. It is convenient to do such a check using a test lamp, connecting one of its outputs to «mass», while others touch the wire plugs. The burning of the test lamp will indicate that there is voltage at the test point;
- oxidation of contact jumpers at the installation site of the lamp control relay in the mounting block. Check, clean contact jumpers 5 (see fig. 92).
Steering column switches not locking
The reason is the destruction of the clamps of the levers. Replace damaged switch.
Headlights won't turn on or off
If the lamp of only one headlight does not turn on, then troubleshoot as described above. If the lamps of both headlights do not turn on, then the causes of the malfunction and how to eliminate it may be as follows:
- Faulty relay for switching on the dipped or main beam headlights. This is easy to check by temporarily replacing the relay with any other of the same ones located in the mounting block. If after that the lamps light up, then the relay is really faulty. It is necessary to remove the cover from it and clean the contacts with fine-grained sandpaper. Connecting plugs «85» and «86» relay with battery terminals, check if it works. Replace defective relay;
- oxidized or worn headlight switch contacts. Remove the switch from the socket and check if the contacts close «56» with contacts «56a» and «56c». You can check with a test lamp or an ohmmeter. Replace damaged switch.
Headlights and side lights do not light up
When you turn on the outdoor lighting, the side light lamps in the headlights and taillights do not light up, the high and low beams of the headlights also do not turn on, but the high beam alarm works (when moving the left stalk lever towards you). In this case, the outdoor light switch does not work. Remove it from the socket by pulling it towards you, and check with a test lamp or an ohmmeter whether the contact closes «X» with contact «56», and the contact «30» with contacts «58», «58L» and «58R». Replace damaged switch.
Direction indicators do not turn off automatically after completing a turn
The reason is the jamming of the return mechanism of the switch lever, damage to the parts of the return mechanism. The switch can be used further by manually turning off the direction indicators after the end of the turn. If possible, replace the damaged switch.
Turn signal indicator lamp flashes twice as fast when turn signal is turned on
Causes of the malfunction and how to fix it:
- One of the turn signal bulbs burned out. Check if the direction indicator lamps are on, replace the burned-out lamp;
- the power supply wires to the turn signal lamp are damaged or the connections of these wires are oxidized. If the direction indicator lamps are working, but do not burn, then it is necessary to check the wires and their connections, replace the damaged wires;
- the relay-interrupter of direction indicators and alarm signaling is damaged. If all the direction indicator lamps also flash at a double frequency, then the faulty relay-breaker must be replaced.
Stop lamps do not turn on when pressing the brake pedal in both rear lights
Causes of the malfunction and how to fix it:
- blown fuse «6» in the mounting block. If at the same time the ceiling lamp does not turn on, then the fuse has really blown. Replace it;
- brake light switch defective. Using a test lamp or an ohmmeter, check if the switch contacts close when the brake pedal is pressed. Replace defective switch;
- damaged wires or poor contacts in the wire connections from the brake light switch to the rear lamps. Check wires and their connections, replace damaged wires.
