The body frame consists of the following main elements: the front of the body, front wings with reinforcements, roof with windshield and rear window frames, floor with reinforcements and rear panel, sidewalls and rear wings. Basically, the frame parts are connected to each other by contact welding, and the parts operating under load (central pillars, front side members), additionally welded by arc welding. The body parts are stamped from sheet low-carbon steel of various thicknesses: for the outer panels 0.7 mm, for the front floor and roof 0.9 mm, for the front fender mudguards, floor crossbars, side members and rear wheel arches 1.0 mm, for heavily loaded parts 1.5 mm.
The main body parts are the hood, doors, trunk door and bumpers. All these parts (except bumpers) consist of internal and external panels, connected to each other by rolling the edge of the external panel with subsequent spot welding. The joints of the panels and welds are sealed with mastic.
