Adjusting the parking brake (VAZ-2108)

If the parking brake does not hold the vehicle on a 25% slope when the lever is moved 4-5 teeth of the ratchet device, adjust it in the following order:

• raise the parking brake lever by 1-2 teeth of the sector;
• loosen lock nut 9 (see figure 112) tensioning device and, by tightening the adjusting nut 8, tighten the cable;
• check the full travel of the parking brake lever, which should correspond to 4-5 clicks of the pawl on the sector; then I tighten the lock nut.

After performing several braking operations, make sure that the lever stroke has not changed and the car wheels rotate freely, without sticking when the lever is in the lower position.
