Clamp the steering gear in a vice with soft jaws. Remove the protective cap 14 (figure 102) and, having unfastened the bolts 24 fastening the inner tips to the rack, unscrew them and remove the steering rods 21, the locking 23 and connecting 22 plates. Remove the clamps 19 fastening the protective cover 20 of the steering rack, the right support, and then the cover 20 of the rack from the crankcase pipe 3 of the steering gear.
Using the 67.7812.9537 octagonal head key (17 mm), unscrew the nut 18 of the stop and remove the spring and retaining ring 17. Turning gear 5 clockwise (view from the steering shaft side), shift the stop 15 of the rack and then, using special pliers with round jaws inserted into the recesses of the stop under the spring, remove the rack stop from the crankcase.
Remove dust cover 12 from the pinion and lock washer 11, unscrew nut 10 with key 67.7812.9536 (24 mm). Clamp the drive pinion shaft in a vice with soft jaws, lightly tap the crankcase with a plastic hammer to remove the pinion from the crankcase together with ball bearing 6. Remove washer 8, lock ring 7 and press the ball bearing off the pinion shaft. Remove rack 13 of the steering gear in the direction of the removed protective cap 14, and then support sleeve 2 of the rack.
