- raise the hood of the car and, turning the wheels of the car to the right (to the left), unpin the nuts of the pins of the ball joints, then press the pins out of the pivot arms of the suspension struts using tool A.470.35 (see fig. 86);
- acting from the passenger compartment, unscrew and remove the coupling bolt 19 (see fig. 101) steering shaft coupling flange;
- remove the facing casing 21 and 26 of the steering shaft;
- disconnect the plug connector of the wires of the switches and the ignition switch;
- unscrew the bolts and nuts securing the steering shaft to the body bracket and remove the bracket 27 complete with shaft 25 and steering wheel 23, pulling them into the body interior; acting from the side of the engine compartment, unscrew the nuts for fastening the brackets 9 for fastening the steering mechanism to the front of the body;
- pushing the steering gear forward, the drive gear is disconnected from the steering shaft 25;
- remove the steering gear assembly with rods, pulling it towards the right wheel.
Steering installation is carried out in the reverse order of removal, taking into account the following:
- before installing the steering mechanism, set the steering wheel spoke horizontally and combine marks A and B (see fig. 101) on the anther and on the steering gear housing (The flat on the drive gear shaft must face to the right in the direction of the vehicle), and in this position, the steering shaft is connected to the drive gear shaft;
- the nuts of the pins of the ball joints of the rods are cottered after tightening with a torque wrench. If the notch of the nut does not coincide with the hole for the cotter pin, then the nut is tightened to an angle less than 60°to ensure the cotter pin;
- to facilitate the installation of brackets 9, the steering gear mounts are lubricated with rubber supports 10 with soapy liquid.
