Car horn (VAZ-2109)

The cars use a C-309 type horn. It is located in the engine compartment and is attached to a bracket welded to the radiator frame panel. The horn connection diagram is shown in Figure 127. It is switched on using auxiliary relay 3 installed in mounting block 2. The horn power supply circuits are protected by fuse "6". The horn is designed to be switched on using a single-wire circuit. Therefore, it has only one output. The second output is the horn mounting screw, which connects the horn to the car's ground.



Sound signals C-309 are electromagnetic signals of tone type, tuned to a certain tone of sound. The basic sound frequency of the signal C-309 is 503...523 Hz.

There is an adjustment screw on the body of the sound signal, which can be used to regulate the strength and frequency of the signal. If the adjustment does not eliminate the wheezing or if the signal works intermittently, then it is necessary to disassemble it and clean the contacts of the interrupter located in the body of the signal. When assembling the signal, the previous gasket should be installed between the membrane and the body of the signal, so as not to disturb the gap of 1.15±0.05 mm between the core and the anchor.



If the signal does not turn on, check the reliability of the wire connections, the condition of the contacts of the switch and relay in the mounting block. If necessary, clean the contacts.
