Horn malfunctions (VAZ-2101)

The horn, although it no longer has the right to vote it once had, is still extremely necessary in difficult road and especially critical situations. Since the horn can be left unused for a long time, you don't notice when and why it stopped making a sound or started making a weak sound. You can imagine the driver's condition if the horn is silent at the right moment. What causes this to happen? The fuse has blown, the switch doesn't work or is stuck, and finally, the horn itself is damaged.

On all models of VAZ cars, except for the car VAZ-2105, the circuit of sound signals is protected by fuse No.1 (16A). If the fuse has blown, it is necessary to establish the cause. Several circuits should be checked, since fuse No.1 also "serves" the interior body lighting lamps, the socket, the cigarette lighter, the brake light lamps, the front open door signal lights and the clock (the last two circuits are for VAZ-2103 and VAZ-2106). The situation is simpler with the VAZ-2105. Fuse No.7 (16A) protects only the sound signal circuit.

To detect a malfunction, it is necessary to check the reliability of the wire connection, the condition of the switch contacts. If necessary, the contacts must be cleaned.

the "voice" of the sound signal is adjusted by screw 5 (Fig. 72). The screw is turned in one direction or another until the tone of the signal becomes clear. It happens that the adjustment does not achieve normal strength and purity of sound, and then the sound signal is removed, disassembled and contacts 2 and 3 are cleaned.





When assembling, it is imperative to install the previous gasket between membrane 1 and signal housing 4, so as not to disturb the gap of 1.15±0.05 mm between core 6 and anchor 7.
