Front wheel drives operate under the most severe and adverse conditions, as they are located in the area of the greatest exposure to moisture and dirt and transmit torque to the wheels at constantly changing angles and loads. High precision manufacturing of hinge parts, the use of high quality materials and lubricants ensure reliable operation of the unit in these conditions, but only while maintaining the tightness of the seals. Therefore, the maintenance of the front wheel drive is reduced mainly to periodic inspection and checking the condition of the protective covers.
After the first 2000 km, and then every 15,000 km, check the condition of the protective covers and the absence of extraneous knocks and noises. Replace damaged covers with new ones, after washing and checking the condition of the hinge and replacing the lubricant. If the car was moving along an undeveloped road, then the covers should be inspected after each such trip.
