Removing
1. We prepare the car for work on removing the handbrake lever (see paragraphs 2b and 4 "Preparing the car for maintenance and repair").
2. Remove the handbrake cable equalizer from the adjusting rod (see points 4-6 "Checking and adjusting the hand brake").
3. Using a slotted screwdriver, remove the rubber protective cover of the adjusting rod of the hand brake lever.
4. Remove the overlay of the floor tunnel.
5. Using a Phillips screwdriver, unscrew the self-tapping screw of the front fastening of the bracket for the switch of the control lamp for turning on the handbrake.
6. Using a 10 mm socket wrench, unscrew the two bolts of the rear fastening of the bracket for the switch of the control lamp for turning on the hand brake.
7. Remove the bracket and disconnect the tip of the wire from the output of the switch of the control lamp for turning on the handbrake.
8. Using a 10 mm socket wrench, unscrew the two remaining bolts securing the hand brake lever bracket.
9. Remove the hand brake lever assembly with the bracket and adjusting rod.
10. To remove the adjusting rod, use pliers to remove the cotter pin from the axial pin of the rod. Remove the washer and the handbrake adjusting rod from the finger.
Installation
1. We install a rod, a washer on the hand brake lever and fix them with a cotter pin.
2. We install the hand brake lever and switch bracket and all removed parts on the car in the reverse order of removal.
3. Apply grease to the threaded part of the adjusting rod (Litol-24), we install an equalizer, an adjusting nut and a lock nut on the thrust.
4. Adjust the travel of the handbrake lever (see "Checking and adjusting the hand brake").
