Rear Brake Pressure Regulator — Removal and Installation (VAZ-2110)

To perform repair work on replacing the rear brake pressure regulator, you will need: special keys for brake pipe fittings.

Removal



1. Prepare the car for repair work (see points 2b and 4 "Preparing a car for maintenance and repair").

2. Clean the brake pressure regulator and the regulator drive mechanism from dirt.

3. Treat the brake pipe fittings screwed into the pressure regulator with WD-40 penetrating lubricant.

4. Using a slotted screwdriver, bend back the edges of the retainer securing the elastic lever of the brake pressure regulator to the rear axle lever.

5. Remove the brake pressure regulator lever from the shackle.

6. Four brake pipes are connected to the pressure regulator: two supply pipes (from the master brake cylinder) and two outlets (to the working brake cylinders). The brake pressure regulator body has relief arrows indicating the connection points of the supply and outlet brake pipes. To facilitate assembly, we mark the order of connecting the brake pipes to the rear brake pressure regulator.



7. Using a special key, loosen the tightening of the brake pipe fitting that approaches the pressure regulator from the end, and hold the regulator tip with a 21 mm open-end wrench.

9. Finally, unscrew the fittings using an open-end wrench of the same size.

Warning: When disconnecting the brake pipes from the pressure regulator, make sure that the pipes do not rotate together with the fittings. If the brake pipe is twisted, it must be replaced.


10. Using a 10 mm socket wrench, unscrew the two nuts securing the rear brake pressure regulator bracket to the car body.

11. Remove the brake pressure regulator assembly with the bracket and levers.

12. Using a 13 mm wrench, unscrew the rear bolt securing the pressure regulator to the bracket.

14. Remove the mounting bracket and levers from the brake pressure regulator.

Installation



1. Assemble and install the rear brake pressure regulator and all removed parts on the vehicle in the reverse order of removal.

2. Connect the brake pipes in accordance with the marks made during disassembly.

3. Tighten the brake pipe fittings with a special key.

4. Bleed the hydraulic drive of the brake system on the car (see "Bleeding brakes (brake system), brake fluid replacement")

5. Adjust the brake pressure regulator drive.
